A great “how to guide” from Sunset on how to make a living wall of succulents designed and planted by Robin Stockwell.

Build the vertical garden frame similar to a picture frame. For those of you in the California area, a preassembled frame can be purchased from Succulent Gardens. Cost is about $US35 for a 6- by 12-inch frame.

Gather succulent cuttings, make sure the stems are at least 1/4 inch long. Allow the stems to harden by placing them in a cool area for a few days. The frame above will take about 60 succulents, so you will want to make sure you are well stocked up.

Fill in with moist cactus mix/soil/potting mix. The mesh should hold the majority of the soil in place
