String Ball Garden
April 12th, 2011 | Posted by in LusheAt the recent Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show we came across some hanging plants made of string. The stand was sponsored by Ford.

Each string ball takes about 30mins to crotchet, layering from inside out. Some of the string gardens are 3 months old.
As the roots of the plants grow, they act as natures string, helping to hold the root ball together. Air naturally prunes the roots as they reach the surface.
String gardens will last as long as you water them, Just dunk them in a bucket and they will drink all they need.

Hi, I am curious to know about the frequency of
‘watering’/ dunking pleas? Thanks. Jennii
Looks to be almost daily
What a wonderful and creative idea?
Where can I purchase these balls??
I think these are all hand made
I’m still working on the Vertical Garden in my own backyard and will be doing a PermaBlitz soon! Been to two already and sooooo much fun – 50 people last week in Altona
where do I find the pattern to make these?
