DIY Concrete Block Vertical Garden

June 15th, 2010 | Posted by Lushe in Lushe

I love the simplicity of this vertical garden found at Studio G using cheap concrete blocks to create a “stepped stone” wall.

With some cascading plants this effect could look replicate ancient Maya architecture. Some examples are shown below.

In my opinion the best reason to make a verticle garden is to lesson our footprint on the world. So this to me is only adding more concrete and plastic to a world so full of trash. Trash that could easily be repourposed and reused for so many things before it ends up in our landfills. What about a two liter soda bottle garden stacked on a patio, filled with soil and holes that hold several plants. Now that is making a verticle garden that counts. Or possibly hang them from the roof of a porch even from tree limbs when land is used. Make that space up count.
