Vertical Garden shaped like Manhattan
March 2nd, 2010 | Posted by in LusheI came across a great vertical garden on Design Sponge. The vertical garden was designed in the shape of Manhattan featuring Central park.

The idea was the brainchild of LTL Architects and was planted out by Parker Interior Plantscapes. What is cool is that even the topography is mirrored with the plant selection.

Hi Felicity!
Actually if you are looking for green walls with other elements I would suggest you to try to explore some of Patrick Blanc’s projects, not the typical ones you see all around but some of his favourite projects where he mizes plants with other elements, being rocks or wood or plastic and water and so on.
In fact when Patrick was here in Melbourne I had the great fortune to work for him planting the vertical garden.

And he was explaining that he makes his typical vertical gardens only because the people likes them, but he actually loves to experiment more with differenmt materials.

Thank you all for your comments! This was a fun project to do. It has a complex irrigation system and it is doing as nice today as the first day it was installed. See some of our other work at http://www.parkerplants.com.
