On 30 October 2009, Better Homes & Gardens built 3 DIY vertical gardens. While not in the league of Patrick Blanc they will suit the DIY budget. See the video here.

1. A shelf system that the plants simply sit on. The shelves are then covered by water proof plywood with sections cut out. The plants used are bromeliads.

2. Painted Terracotta pots hung in a nice arrangement

3. Bamboo hung horizontally on a wall with parts cut out. Probably only suit succulents as the wall would get very hot.
